Functions and Responsibilities

  1. To conduct capacity building program
  2. Preparation of mentor-mentee groups as per the prescribed ratio.
  3. Preparation of mentoring and counseling schedules/check list
  4. Conducting student mentoring and counseling as per the schedule
  5. Identification of slow learners.
  6. Measures to improve the performance of slow learners.

Objective

To address the conflicts in attitudes, habits, and knowledge towards learning practices and to inculcate discipline, punctuality and motivation among the students in their career building.

Standard Operating Procedure for Student Counseling Committee

  1. Meeting will be held in the beginning of academic year to propose to plan for activities / awareness programs by seeking permission and send the same to the IQAC for approval.
  2. Requisition letter is sent to the Principal through IQAC seeking permission to conduct events to students and staff.
  3. Circulate notice to all staff, students to participate in the said programs / FDPs.
  4. Council the students in a private confidential environment
  5. If student’s issue is referring to psychiatrist intimate to their parents.
  6. At the end of the academic year the annual and action taken report are to be submitted to IQAC.

Minutes of meeting Procedure

  1. All meetings shall be convened by the chairperson/convener with prior notice to all committee members.
  2. Minutes of meeting will be noted down by the convener and same will be discussed with committee members.
  3. It is compulsory for the members to attend the meeting.
  4. Maintenance of necessary records of the committee in a file: Notice/Photos/Statistical data /Minutes of meeting/Prepare brief report on events.
  5. Meeting: The Committee should meet at least once in every semester.
  6. Quorum:The quorum for the meeting shall be two-thirds of the total number of members.
  7. Record Keeping: The agenda, minutes of meeting and Action Taken Reports are to be documented with official signatures and maintained in a register and electronically in a retrievable format (scanned copy).
  8. Reporting:A copy of the same will be submitted to the IQAC of the college for preparation of various reports of IQAC.

Outcomes of the system

  1. The attendance percentage of the students has increased to a greater extent.
  2. The number of detainment of students has decreased consistently.
  3. In course of direct communication between mentor and the student there was a good improvement in the teacher-student relationship.
  4. The above effected in attaining a better academic performance.
